"Far Above" "A break in the clouds revealed a small village for only a moment. We were FAR ABOVE, watching the clouds and the way the light was hitting all these formations…I just happened to look down." |

It was a rainy day, I had to hike to this spot so I could capture this image with the sky
under the arch.
It took 4 photos to get this image. There was a tour from Germany there, 10 are shown here in the painting, all wearing
matching white jackets, sort of gives you a scale of it." |

"Sunny Days and Dusty Roads" "While painting on location, this old rattling pick up truck roared by and covered me and all my paint stuff with thick dust. I watched him disappear down the road and around that curve with the dust ligering in the air." |
"Leghorn Drive" "I consider this painting as one of my better efforts. I recently finished it after an eight year period from the beginning. Sometimes things don't come together as quickly as we like. It's where mental ability has to catch up with the message." |

"Winter Waters" "Below the Arizona Rim, during November, the weather can be cold and damp. My color studies (painted on location) were finished at high 30's to low 40's temps. (about froze, no kidding). Ice was forming around the edges of the water flow. " |

Presence" Corporate Commission "From the West Rim, the river is a mile below and you could still hear the rafters' yell as they worked their way through the rapids. This commissioned painting fills a wall in a corporate's board room in Phoenix ." |

Morn " "One morning visiting Desert View we experienced large wild fires on the North Rim. The sunlight was filtered through the smoke and turned all the colors into shades of brown." |

"Anna's Garden" FEATURED IN ARTBOOK OF THE NEW WEST "A life-long silent mentor whom I have always respected and admired is Andrew Wyeth. This is the kitchen ell you can see in his "Christina's World". I spent some time at the Olson's house in Cushing, Maine of which I'll never forget. This painting got away too soon." |

Old Trails" - Watrous, NM "Part of an on-going series of the same title. This is an old stage stop on the Santa Fe Trail. I passed by recently, not much left anymore, noticed now the big trees are gone." |

"Lost At Stones River" "Civil War subjects are difficult to do because of the extreme nature of the conflict. Over New Years in 1863 the Confederates ultimately lost this battle after having to abandon cannon and position. My depiction includes a lost and prized St. Andrews Cross Battle Flag." |

Rose" "Wild roses peeking out from the ditch grass along country roads in Eastern Nebraska. My favorite flower." |

"Trade Winds" - Poipu "Blowing in from the East, the Trade Winds would kick up the surf along Poipu Point on Kauai. I always love how the morning sun changes the colors in the breaking wave." |

THE WAVE PAINTINGS ARE FROM STUDYING THE ACTION FOR 2 HOURS A DAY FOR 2 WEEKS AT THE SAME PLACE ALONG THE KAWAII COAST……IT’S ALL ABOUT VARIETY AND RHYTHM….THE MOVEMENT MAKES IT’S OWN MUSIC. THE MOORINGS ALSO CONTAIN THEIR OWN RHYTHM, NO MATTER WHERE THEY ARE, FROM ST. MARTIN TO CAMDEN, MAINE. | ||
"Ocean Green" "Last of the “Coastal” series, this is #9. This subject is very fluid, but it was a chance to learn the hydraulics of water as it forms and breaks into and out of a wave. This was the most difficult of the Series to put into paint." |
