“The Palace” 9"x12” oil on panel $630 SOLD Custom frame In the middle of “Whiskey Row” sits the grand and historical PALACE. Being a part of the 2nd Annual PRESCOTT Plein Air Festival Hosted by the HIGHLANDS Center of Natural History, I completed, as is, this oil painting sitting across the street in the Courthouse Plaza. Thought I could do this without too many interruptions……I was wrong, took over 4 hours…non-stop. If you would like additional info, Please contact me from Contact page. Mural “ALONG FORT BOTTOM” John Wesley Powell River History Museum Green River, Utah 16 feet x 2 ½ stories high
(Artist attending 150th year celebration of Powell’s historical trip, July 2019) SOME YEARS AGO, I HAD THE PRIVILEDGE OF CREATING, PAINTING, AND INSTALLING A MURAL IN THIS MUSEUM. IT TOOK OVER FOUR MONTHS TO COMPLETE AND INSTALL. MY RESEARCH TOOK ME DOWN THE GREEN RIVER (total trip over 160 miles) IN THE SAME LENGTH OF HIS BOAT, THE SAME WEEK AND TIME OF YEAR AS POWELL DID IN 1869-71, ONLY 123 YEARS LATER THIS HAS BEEN MY BIGGEST CHALLENGE.

I was asked to visit a particular exclusive winery and vineyard in the Napa Valley area to do Plein Air color studies to be used for a future project. These were painted there.

During the spring, a few years back, I spent a month as guest of the National Park Service, painting in the Badlands National Park of South Dakota as Artist-In-Residence.The following is a series that was finished in studio using 17 9x12 oil painting studies, along with photos taken, completed in the Park during my stay. The title is “WHISPERS from THE BADLANDS” This title is result of many times while painting out at some remote location (Plein Air) I would hear people talking in hushed tones..whispers….it would get so bad, I would have to lay my brush down, walk around to try to find them…..but there never was anyone there. This happened many times during the 17 paintings I completed there.

Some time ago, over 40 of us participated in a juried Plein Air event sponsored by the city of Casa Grande, AZ . Even though the judging was questionable all seemed to have a good time.
